Performance Characteristics
1. Long-Distance Torque Transmission (Power Transfer): The engine and transmission of a heavy-duty truck are typically located at the front, while the drive wheels (rear axle) are several meters away. The core task of the driveshaft is to "transfer" the enormous rotational torque output from the transmission across this distance to the rear axle, driving the truck forward.
2. Adapting to Variable Angle Operation (Universal Joints): During truck operation, the rear axle bounces up and down due to uneven road surfaces.
Core Function: The universal joints at both ends of the driveshaft allow the driveshaft to change angle (typically between 0° and 20°) while rotating.
Result: Ensures continuous and smooth power transmission between the transmission and the bouncing rear axle, preventing breakage or jamming due to angle changes.
